Make it a “Craft Beer” Veterinary Vacation in Richmond

Do you like craft beer?  How about cider, mead, or distilled spirits?  Richmond has become known for its craft beer scene, and Helping Hands Veterinary Surgery and Dental Care is located near Scott’s Addition – the epicenter of Richmond’s beer revolution.  A summary of the local scene is outlined in the following article by WTVR:

Approximately 1/3 of Richmond’s Craft Beers/Ciders are made within 1 mile of Helping Hands.  The great news is that most breweries are pet-friendly, so you can enjoy a frosty one with your best friend.

We will be providing updates and posts about individual breweries.  In the meantime, here are some general observations about the local scene:

Hardywood Craft Brewery  – Our closest neighbor, just around the block.  Known for their Gingerbread Stout.  Thursday evenings are food truck nights with big crowds.

The Veil Brewing Co. – Newest brewery with excellent reputation for quality beers.  They do not sell growler fills, and have a limited canned selections that usually are released on Tuesday and sell out before the weekend.  For many, the only taste of their beers will be through their tasting room.  Known for their IPA’s including Crucial Taunt & Master Shredder.  If cans are for sale be sure to purchase some to take with you.

Ardent Craft Ales – Quality beers and one of areas best beer gardens – a favorite amongst pet owners.

Isley Brewery – Home of a local favorite – Choosy Mother – Peanut Butter Porter.

Strangeways Brewing – Not in Scott’s Addition, but close by.  Known for Sours and Uniquely Infused Beers.  Fun tap room with some picnic tables outside.  Open daily at Noon so you can stop by the day of your pet’s procedure and leave Richmond with a growler.  They also have a trio of stouts flavored with Bourbon, Tequila, or Rum.

We encourage you to make your trip to Richmond a true Veterinary Vacation – Medical Tourism for Pets.  While we take care of your pets, we want to make sure you have a great time to help ease your anxiety and pass the time.  Feel free to call Jake (804-651-1877) if you want to discuss any potential plans while you are in Richmond.
